Bathroom Inspiration

If I could spend all day, everyday perusing Pinterest and Instagram admiring home decor and interior design, I probably would. Now that we’re in the depths of our home renovation where we are opening up our main floor, enlarging our kitchen, and shifting around the guest bedroom and main floor bathroom I’m deep in the trenches of planning, envisioning, and buying our new finishes.

I thought it would fun to show you all the finishes and inspiration that we’ve found and picked along the way!

Originally we were going to keep our main floor bathroom ‘cheap and cheerful’ with IKEA cabinetry, a vinyl shower base, and inexpensive Home Hardware tile. But, Topher and I both realized that we wanted to make this bathroom beautiful and mix high and low-end pieces together so that we never tire of it.

We’re using natural slate tile from Creekside Tile as the flooring in this space. We love this unique flooring and the darker, moody colour has really guided the feel of this bathroom, plus it was only $12/square foot which is a pretty decent price.

Based on the dark grey of the tile and my love of English Country design, we’ve decided to use a square zellige-style tile with lots of colour variation and an organic feel for the shower walls. The shower floor will be a simple white penny tile. Again, none of the tiles have been big splurge items, but they will make the room feel really interesting and beautiful.

For the vanity, we’re opting to use a farmhouse-style vanity and sink from Ikea. Honestly, I really like how simple this vanity is and I don’t want to spend a tonne of money on a vanity. We’ll swap out the drawer pulls and the faucet on the vanity to match the other metals in the space. We’re mixing metals in this space, but choosing warm metals that mix well together like nickel and brass.

So without further adieu, here’s our bathroom mood board!
