The Sunday Edition: October 30, 2022
Hi friend! After a very long summer and fall, I’m starting to dig myself out of my hole. I feel like most people to talk to have had a tough 2022 or at least a tricky, long summer. I for one am very relieved that we’ve waved goodbye to summer and hello to new seasons. Throughout the summer we were in the midst of renovations which comes with so much excitement but it also happens to be overwhelming, tiring, and filled with endless decision-making, and if you’re me, overthinking every decision!
Just last week I started to see the light at the end of the renovation tunnel, for the past few months I haven’t been able to see a finish line, so I’m getting really excited that the end is in sight! To be entirely honest, I am so so excited for Christmas this year, I could happily skip Halloween, it’s never been a holiday that I look forward to.
I’ve already started ordering Christmas decorations, plotting our holiday gift guide, brainstorming holiday recipes and genuinely getting even more excited in the process. I am truly a holiday-loving freak. Basically, I’m the ultimate Hallmark girl, I love watching Holiday movies and reading Christmas and Holiday romance novels. So basic, but I’m ok with that, I have fun with it!
The last few weeks have been eventful with Thanksgiving, and lots of birthday celebrations for my brother-in-law, sister, and niece. Plus, Topher and I are celebrating our one-year wedding anniversary next week. To celebrate we’re taking a road trip to Upstate New York, where we plan to eat, shop, and hike our way through Hudson and Catskill. Follow along on our adventure on Instagram.

Questions of the week
Q: what’s your favourite fall soup?
A: This Sweet Potato and Lentil Soup is flipping delicious and comforting and I make it all fall and winter long. Plus, it keeps really well and warms up beautifully so leftovers are perfect for lunch!
Q: favorite apple recipe to bake?
A: I love this gluten-free Paleo Apple Spice Cake. It’s healthy, comforting, and super yummy.
Q: If you were stranded on an island, but could have one skincare product, what would it be?
A: Definitely this tinted sunscreen. I wear it every single day, whether the sun is shining or not. Even on days when I don’t wear make-up, I still use my sunscreen!
Q: favourite non-alcoholic drink?
A: I’ve been living a sober-ish life this year completely unintentionally, I just realized that I really hate the way most alcohol makes me feel and I don’t miss alcohol at all, but there are times that I wish there were more mocktail options readily available. I love this non-alcoholic prosecco and this soda and bitters.
Q: What’s your favorite thing about fall?
A: I used to not love fall because it meant that summer was ending, but nowadays I see the shift to be exciting and welcoming newness rather than just seeing it as a sad ending. I really love the first time it’s cold enough to light a fire, I love the changing colours of the leaves, and I really love the changes in cooking and baking. Using warming spices, baking with apples and pumpkin, cooking low and slow one-pot meals, and tea time are all beautiful experiences I embrace in the fall.
