The Sunday Edition: April 10th, 2022
Easter is coming and it kind of feels like the first holiday that we can actually gather with family and friends, of course with the proper precautions. I’m giving you my suggestions for the perfect Easter menu, scroll down to see! Yesterday, I spent the afternoon cleaning up our garden beds, trimming back last year’s flowers, uncovering some of our tulip and daffodil bulbs, and it’s so exciting when you move the brown leaves and see green sprouts popping up. Tell me in the comments what you’re up to this weekend!

Questions of the week
Q: What’s something worth splurging on?
A: skincare! Over the past year and a half, I’ve started using medical-grade skincare, specifically ZO Skincare and Alumier and my skin has never looked or felt better.
Q: Favourite date night dinner spots in Prince Edward County?
A: For a casual dinner we love Midtown Brewery and La Condesa in Wellington. For a fancier date, we love Flame and Smith and Bocado. I really wish more restaurants had mocktail options through, Drake Devonshire has great non-alcoholic drinks!
Q: What are three things every home cook needs?
A: A good skillet, I would go with a 10 inch cast iron skillet. A good knife or set of knives is essential to practice and hone your knife skills and actually enjoy cooking. A cutting board or two, I would go with a plastic board for meat and a nice wooden board that can do double duty as a cutting board and serving board for appetizers, charcuterie, pizza, etc.
Q: Who inspires you?
A: A lot of people inspire me but above all, I find inspiration from places and memories. The people include Teighan of Half Baked Harvest, Tori of Fraiche Living, and Jillian Harris.
Places that inspire me are harder to pin down but travelling, eating at different restaurants, nature and the changing seasons are four ways I find inspiration. Memories inspire me most of all, for example thinking of dishes my mum makes like her Scratch Cake. Memories like being a kid at my cottage with my family eating grilled cheese sandwiches in between jumping in the lake and going for boat rides. I try and create recipes that remind me of experiences and conjure up feelings for me and hopefully you too!
Q: Do you have any siblings?
A: I have an older sister and older brother. Both my sister and brother are married. Both have one child and my sister is expecting baby number two in June, I can’t wait to be a three-time aunt. Auntie life is the best life.
Q: How far in advance do you plan your recipes?
A: I plan recipes about a month in advance. Ideally I test, make, video record and photograph recipes two weeks ahead. Usually, my shooting days include three recipes. I video record and photograph three recipes in one day. I like to write new blog posts a week ahead of them going live but sometimes I write them more last minute.
